THE CATCH

CREATING A LIFE-SIZED TRIBUTE TO AN ICONIC NFL MOMENT

  • At Haus5 Lab.Co, we specialize in creating unique and impactful designs that bring our client's visions to life. Recently, we had the opportunity to work on a very special project that allowed us to showcase our expertise in design and fabrication.

The project was to re-create a one-and-a-half-size statue of Joe Montana and Dwight Clark's famous catch in the Super Bowl XVI. This play is one of the most iconic moments in NFL history and was to be displayed at Levi Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers.

  • Our goal for this project was to create a realistic and impactful sculpture that would capture the essence of the famous catch. We aimed to make the sculpture as true to life as possible, down to the smallest detail. We wanted to illuminate the scene of the couch when it happened back in 1982. The challenge was to create a suspended armature that would hold Dwight Clark, the receiver, in the air, catching a football with Joe Montana throwing his hands up for the touchdown.

  • To bring this vision to life, we utilized our in-house design and fabrication team's expertise. Our team of skilled designers created a highly-detailed model of the sculpture, which we then scaled to one and a half times life-size. We CNC machined the sculpture in high-density urethane, allowing for intricate detailing and precision in the sculpture's shape. We then painted it to create an illuminating bronze finish, ensuring that every feature was true to the original moment.

The final result was a stunning, life-like statue that perfectly captured the spirit of the famous Super Bowl moment. We were proud to work on this project and honored to bring such an iconic moment in sports history to life for millions of fans to enjoy.
